Location: La Jungla Neighborhood, Granada, Nicaragua
Population served: 100 children of a high poverty demographic
Main Objective: To provide free meals, personal hygiene and family relations talks to underserved children ages 1 to 12.
Schedule: 12:00 noon, Monday through Saturday
Duration of Project: One year
Start Date: Summer 2006

Executive Entity: The Rotary Club of Granada, Nicaragua
Background:
The children's dining hall is located in an extremely poor neighboorhood called La Jungla, in the Municipality of Granada, Nicaragua. This project began two years ago, serving lunch daily, Monday through Friday, to 25 children between the ages of 1 to 12. The number of children participating in this free lunch program has grown to a current attendance of 70 children.
Initially, this project was funded by a local priest who collected food and monetary donations from the community in Granada.
This project is currently struggling to exist, due to the increase of children participating in the free lunch program, the high cost of food and the inconsistency of private donations.
Currently, the children´s dining hall is lacking sufficient furniture, cooking utensils, bowls and plates, complicating the execution of this project.
Objectives of the project:
a. General:
To manage the financing, in collaboration with a willing Rotary Club benefactor or group of donators who can guarantee the continuation of this free lunch Project (to benefit 100 children) over the course of a year.
b. Specifics:
-To search for economic assistance for the daily free lunch program.
-To help supply the necessary dishes required to prepare and serve the food.
-To optimize the efficacy of the free lunch program.
